Has anyone else had problems with Windows Explorer arbitrarily crashing (the toolbar disappearing and slowly rebuilding)? I have only had this problem with AV Cataloger 3.8.2 running (I use Windows XP Media Center Edition SP2). I did not have this problem with the version prior to 3.8.1 (I essentially skipped 3.8.1 because 3.8.2 came out before I had the installer issue resolved). Any thoughts? |

Hello, AVCataloger has no interaction with Windows Explorer. I suggest rebooting your computer to see if the problem resolves itself. Makes sure you have ALL available Windows Updates as well.

I always stay up to date on Windows Updates. I've used AV Cataloger 3.8.2 about 4 or 5 times now. If I use if for longer than a few minutes (which happened 3 or 4 of those times), it seems to eventually either close itself mysteriously (when it is not the primary application), or Windows Explorer crashes. I've had AV Cataloger for years and never experienced this issue before this version. I had another circumstance again after writing. I had a few apps open, including some Explorer windows, Firefox and Xfire. Someone had responded to me on Xfire, and it would not let me switch windows (not by Alt+Tab, not by clicking in the status bar) to it. I could minimize windows using the button in upper right, but my functionality of switching windows was not restored until I closed AV Cataloger (and it immediately returned at that point). I reboot periodically and can not per se guarantee that any of these circumstances was after a recent reboot, but it is odd that even without a reboot, the problems cease as soon as I close AV Cataloger (or it closes itself). |

Uninstall AVCataloger. Reinstall AVCataloger. Do NOT run it yet. Download this patch, apply it to upgrade it to 3.8.2 and then run AVCataloger again.
