Post Calling all Aircraft Owners and Flying Clubs

NC Software is considering adding a module for aircraft maintenance to replace those paper logs such as propeller, engine, etc. as well as provide a method for tracking aircraft discrepancies. We need your feedback to help us provide a solution that will benefit individual aircraft owners, corporate aircraft owners, and flying clubs also maintaining multiple aircraft.

Please use this forum to help us shape requirements to suit your needs as related to aircraft maintenance. This will potentially be a separate module to Logbook Pro and link into the flight log portion to aggregate flying hours for aircraft owned.

Feel free to post screen captures, URL's, anything that will help us learn more, visualize your requirements, etc. Also feel free to state your concerns for areas we need to pay special attention.

Thank you for your feedback and we look forward to bringing you an exciting new area to Logbook Pro in the near future.

Default Owner Request

Being a brand new owner of a C182T, I think the AD compliance is a biggest issue. For me it would be tracking each item individually, to ensure compliance. Additionally, I would like to see mandatory inspection items tracked like ELT, transponder, etc. VOR checks for IFR validation would be helpful. I track all flight hours through the hobbs time, so a linked field back to logbook pro would be great. Currently the cessna books provided measure Total Time in Service for the Airframe, Engine, and propeller. It would also be nice to have this computed from the Hobbs. I would be interested in assisting in anyway I can. Thanks -

Exclamation Another vote for maintenance module...

The previous post from jhall-lnk summed it up well, so I'll just add my vote of support for development of this module. I use the Hobbs and tach times for my maintenance tracking as well, and further support of Hobbs time would be appreciated for calculating logged flight time. I'm also available for feedback.

An aircraft maintenance module is a great idea! Some thoughts:

* Plenty of planes out there are shared by a small group of pilot/owners. It would be great if the module could accomodate those owners. One way would be to add a feature that easily 'publishes' status and alerts into html and then sends that to multiple e-mail addresses. This way the owner tracking maintenance has a powerful tool to inform everybody else in the partnership.

* There has to be a feature that generates a summary that can be printed and put in the plane every once in a while. This way every pilot flying the plane can compare the tach time and dates with the numbers on the sheet before T/O.

* REALLY nifty would be when the program could sync with a web application so that all pilot/owners have access to the latest records and might even be able to do certain changes (like adding an entry whenever a VOR check has been done).

Looking forward to this module. Let us know when there's a beta to test!

Count me in for this module as well. I would really love to have a way of tracking the service times of my aircraft.

Having alerts for service from a preset value such as oil change intervals based on tach time would be helpful.

Hi Dave,

We have all we need at this time and we'll open it up for beta testing when that time approaches.

Thank you.

Default This would be of tremendous value to all AC Owners

Not as a replacement to the paper logs, but, as a supplement. depending on functionality, would be great to be able to sort and search maintenance activities.

Default Great Option

To be perfectly honest. I was very dissapointed that this option was not already part of this program. I assumed (yeah I know) that this would be a subcatagory in the currency area of LogbookPro. I am really undecided on whether or not to buy into a program that only addresses part of my flying responcibilities. I am looking for a program that I can open up and in one sitting take care of all aspects of my "hobby".
When are you expecting to expand this part of the program?
Thanks,
Pete

I'd love to be able to put Hobbs and Tach numbers in the logbook tied to a particular plane with events based on hours similiar to currency for flying. I don't need the airframe, engine and prop logs due to the fact the mechanic fills those out anyway, but it would be nice to have a running note log for the airplane that could be tied to the aforementioned tach entry.
