Welcome to our April NC Software Round-Up

We've been busy at NC Software and have exciting news across our product offerings.  We've broken down this months newsletter into our product divisions:  Aviation, Media Cataloging, and Web/E-Commerce.  The big news is that we are no longer using the InstallShield Update Service.  Be sure to update your software to our latest versions which you can always check by visiting our Version Info page.  Also, be sure you are subscribed to our individual product mailing lists so you receive our frequent newsletters, when available.  You can manage your mailing list subscriptions at any time from the same page including updating old addresses to ensure delivery of our news and updates.  Our mailing lists are strictly private and used by NC Software only to deliver you important product related information.

Logbook Pro & APDL News 

We have a huge update to Logbook Pro we're wrapping up, one of the biggest in years, and yes, again, it's entirely FREE for all of our registered customers.  Logbook Pro is now nine years old and we continue to enjoy every minute of making this product better by the day.  We have a great customer base and receive so many great suggestions, it's a great pleasure to implement these great feature requests for all to enjoy.

Since our acquisition of the world leading airline pilot logbook program "Airline Pilot's Daily Aviation Logbook" (aka. APDL) last year, we have been working very hard on tying Logbook Pro and APDL closer together.  Soon we will be launching Logbook Pro 1.10 (and you thought we were running out of version numbers) which will include many new features including a brand new "Office 2003" user-interface (selectable) and the new PDA Wizard which now handles ALL of our PDA products syncing to Logbook Pro.  SingleSync is going away as we have a more powerful system with the new PDA Wizard giving you greater control over the synchronization process. 

The long awaited support for Windows Mobile 5 and ActiveSync 4 is soon coming to an end.  We have a brand new Logbook Pro Pocket PC Companion running under the powerful Microsoft .NET Compact Framework v2 (free) and we have finally removed any pain you have ever experienced with ActiveSync.  We will be finalizing the development this week and allowing our private beta team to test the new software beginning next week and then look forward to a release, if all testing goes well, near the end of April.  Thrilled is an understatement in how we feel about this new Pocket PC application, we could not have expected the product to come out any better.  We are also supporting landscape orientation for those of you that like to turn things "sideways" in Windows Mobile 5!

We have even more news, again, Logbook Pro 1.10 is a huge update and breaking news in many areas.  For those with Palm Treo's are familiar with having to purchase a $25 device license from AppForge as the CrossFire client is required for Palm OS phone devices.  We are happy to report with the release of 1.10 this additional licensing fee is GONE!  We are now able to distribute our Logbook Pro Palm Companion hassle free and with a simplified installer that makes it easy to use our Palm software on any device without requiring a computer science degree to figure out.

AVCataloger News

Hopefully you received our recent AVCataloger February 2006 newsletter, if not, click here to read the scoop on what's new with AVCataloger. 

We recently released a major update to AVCataloger, version 3.7.1, with a new "Office 2003" look and feel.  Keeping AVCataloger modernized and feature packed keeps this great value for your money in pace with the requirements we receive from our great customers.  Your feedback is what makes AVCataloger what it is today! 

AVCataloger is as fun to use as it is to develop, we use it to catalog our music collections, keep track of our favorite videos, and of course, as developers we have tons of books, we easily keep them cataloged, and very important to us is tracking our computers and software.  AVCataloger makes this so easy for us!  As many know, AVCataloger is extremely customizable allowing you to add columns, enjoy great flexibility in grouping and sorting your data, and track just about anything.

We're working on AVCataloger 3.8 now and look forward to another update mid-May.  We are building a completely new IMDb system to help those with intermittent network connectivity issues when retrieving IMDb details.  We finally have a method in development to ensure higher reliability in the IMDb area that some have experienced.  Be sure you're subscribed to the AVCataloger mailing list to be notified of the new version, which will be another free update to our version 3.x customers.  We'll also push out the update with the new software update notification system already built into version 3.7.

Web & E-Commerce News

For our quikSlip users, we've updated quikSlip for both StoreFront 6 and BVCommerce 2004 improving performance significantly and enhancing features per customer requests.  For those struggling with accounting, quikSlip is such a versatile application, it even provides great accounting summaries to help you balance your books.  quikSlip also provides the most extensive search of your online store helping to locate prior customers, what they ordered, and view sales summaries based on these searches. 

We updated our BVCommerce payment processor suite with the release of our AbleCommerce payment processors to incorporate the brand new VeriSign PayFlow Pro 100% .NET integration.  PayFlow Pro users know the pain of configuring the COM client on servers, with our new integration it's fully XCOPY deployable, no server configuration required.  We also updated and added other integrations which are available as part of our suites.  Buy one license and use any and all payment gateways within your store!  Server licenses also available for multiple store owners.

We also released our popular gift certificate add-on for StoreFront 6 merchants, GCAP v2.  This new implementation is a major overhaul from the prior version giving much more control over the gift certificate sales such as allowing you to specify expirations on gift certificates issued, e-mail templates, etc.  The integration is much simpler now with only one code insertion and now we also handle multiple gift certificates purchased in one shopping experience.  The gift certificate codes are also simpler for your customers to use.

siteDirector .NET has also been updated gaining significant performance improvements.  For those using quikSlip, siteDirector .NET, and/or GCAP v2 must update ALL of your programs to the latest version.  This latest update has new DLL's that are shared in common among these applications and must be updated together to avoid breaking one of the related applications.
